"Joy South" The Project
The Chinese character '嘉', meaning 'joy,' 'beautiful,' and 'good,' embodies the essence of our project. JOY SOUTH will be a joyful place.

The Good Shepherd
The Sisters of the Good Shepherd are now offering JOY SOUTH, a supportive accommodation program for young women aged 21 to 30 with special needs. This program is specifically designed for individuals who are facing special challenges like mild features of Autism Spectrum Disorder or who have experienced trauma. JOY SOUTH provides affordable housing and essential support services to help these young women thrive.
Government data indicates that 110,000 people aged 35 or under are currently waiting for one-person public housing as of 2024. Young people in Hong Kong have a significant need for independent housing, especially those with special needs who lack family support. They also require emotional, lifestyle, employment, confidence-building, and interpersonal support to live independently as they move into later stages of life.

Energetic youth and seniors
A community where community services converge
JOY SOUTH will be a groundbreaking initiative in Hong Kong, as it will be the first women's hostel to implement Trauma-Informed Care Practices. This empowerment model takes an intergenerational approach, providing 68 accommodations and trauma-specific services for women. Additionally, we invite senior neighbors to participate in our program, offering support to residents as they strive for independent living.

"Joy South Friends"
We invite senior neighbors to join us as "Joy South
Friends" and utilize our facilities, which include an exercise area, wellness room, reading spaces, and a small café. By encouraging intergenerational coexistence and mutuall support, we can foster a new sense of community inclusion. This innovative program not only supports vulnerable young women but also serves older adults in the community.
With our expertise and unwavering commitment, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd will promote this innovative program. We aim to engage the support of senior adults in the community, creating a win-win situation for young women as they pursue their goals and dreams of independence
We hope to get your support!
The "JOY SOUTH" dream is on the verge of becoming a reality! We need to raise $10 million in funding to cover the furnishing costs and start-up expenses for the project.
We sincerely invite you to join us in opening this door of hope together!
