Support programs for young women with specific needs: pioneering intergenerational collaboration models
Hong Kong is facing a critical shortage of supportive housing for young women with specialized needs. With support from the Special Site Scheme offered by the Social Welfare Department, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd (SGS) are launching a self-financed youth-focused empowerment project to provide affordable housing for women aged 21 to 30.
Eligible residents at JOY SOUTH include young women with specialized needs with limited family support, like girls with mild features of autism spectrum disorder, and survivors of trauma, neglect, or abuse.
At JOY SOUTH, we provide not only care but also tailored support and mentorship to each underprivileged young woman who needs assistance in transitioning to independence. This individualized approach is fundamental to our mission and enhances the effectiveness of our support system.
Our JOY SOUTH Project stands out through an innovative intergenerational support model that combines trauma-informed care with trauma-specific healing, inspiring confidence in its potential to create meaningful change.

God takes pleasure only in places made beautiful by love.

Joy South is a Good Shepherd's accommodation and holistic support program for young women with individual needs.
"To serve and to grow"
"To serve and to grow" is the primary belief of SGS. The design of the JOY SOUTH Empowerment Project provides JOY SOUTH residents with opportunities to serve directly or collaborate with other community groups to support people in need within the neighbourhoods.
We welcome older adults to JOY SOUTH, where they can enjoy the aging-friendly facilities designed for daytime use and participate in programs organized by JOY SOUTH residents. The shared facilities and programs create space and opportunity for the residents and senior adults nearby to gather. Through ongoing intergenerational interactions on the site, JOY SOUTH residents and older adults mutually benefit, highlighting the value and impact of our project.

Music In Life - Ordinary Angels
Founded in 2014, Music In Life is dedicated to connecting students with music through diverse means. We hope to use the power of music to inspire students to cheer themselves up, engage in self-reflection, and freely express their emotions. We also hope to help students better understand the world through music—this is the core mission of Music In Life.
The song "Ordinary Angels" aims to express the selfless dedication and quiet care shown by many people in society. We hope that the students at our center can also learn from this noble sentiment.
